Seaside Weekend!!!

This weekend is going to be a GREAT WEEKEND!!! When this is posted, I will be in Seaside Heights for one of my favourite events to attend. The title might say I am having fun. But, I am working and enjoying time with family. Not my blood relatives but my Legion family. This weekend in POW/MIA weekend. This has been an event I attend every year since I was in sixth grade I think. I don't remember. This is an American Legion event that is open to the public. If you are in NJ and want to learn something, join in on the education!!! And it is right at the end of the boardwalk. It's a win-win I think.
It is an all night flag retirement service that has different services and readings of POWs and MIAs from different wars. This is a somber event in my opinion. The opening services are a great way to learn what goes on. This is one of few that are all night. And as an Auxilary member, I am proud to be part of a great organization.

This is the time where I get catch up with people from SouthJersey. I do not get to see them often since I am based in Northen New Jersey. I love talking with my friends and others. If I need a break from everything, I can just wander on the boardwalk and come back.
Once I am tired and need to sleep, I go back to my hotel room that I share with my dad since it is usually the two of us. Then we head back to the beach for the closing service and breakfast after. Once everything is packed up, it is time to drive back home.
This year it is from Friday September 18th to Saturday September 19th 7pm to 7am.

Online Education: Good or Bad?

Everyone is entitled to their opinions on everything. When 're you thinking about going back to school would you rather it in a classroom or sit at home in your jammies? For me sitting in a classroom wasn't an opinion since I was working and driving everyone around. So, I turned to online college. And I know that it has only been a month but I love online school!!!

~Halfway Through~

Allo everyone! This is a quick update and checking in. Lately, I have been very busy with school and work. So I haven't blogged in almost a month!!! I am trying to balance work, school, and this. But I am working hard on things to post and might have a huge redo and write things on a regular basis. More photos and more posts on my social media!
School is going well, midterms are over and the term ends August 23rd then I start my second term on the 31st!! I am really enjoying TESC and online learning. I think it makes life easier and still can have a crazy life; no what is going on this is flexible on your terms.

First Week of School

Hello everyone! I hope y'all are doing well in the nice weather. This is the end of a week of crazy. I started school on Monday and I have to say, it has been a good first week. It is different than sitting in a classroom and long hours on a campus. Going online allows me to have the flexibility to work and get an education. In four short years, I will have my BA in History and then move on to my MA in History. I can't wait to start paying student loans and everything off eventually!!!

First Day Of..

It has been almost three years since I graduated from high school and I should have gone to Montclair State and would be graduating next year as part of the 2016 class. But, plans changed and I stayed home to work and was going to go to county college for my associates before going on to get my bachelors degree. Today was the first day TESC and I can't wait to get the ball rolling on my education and make a better life for myself.

History is something that I am very passionate about and love to learn about. Online classes will make it easier to get a degree and you can with a busy schedule!!! You are the person in control of your life and nothing will change that!!

I hope that many of you are following your heart and working towards something that makes you smile and happy!! :)

I AM A STUDENT!!!

Allo, everyone! I know that  I have been a little lazy about posting. But it is for a good reason and I think everyone will enjoy this... I AM GOING BACK TO SCHOOL!!!! Better yet I am going to college to finally get my history degree. I am now a student at Thomas Edison State College which is a college for adults to achieve an education. With this, you can attend ANYWHERE!!! You be sitting at home in your jammies or traveling all over the world, you can take courses online and obtain the degree of your choice. I am a history major. With being a history nut, it was only natural to go into the history field. I can't wait to share my journey with y' all and see how an online education differs from a tradition classroom feel. I will be posting about going back to school with almost a three-year gap, but I took the time to find a school that I like and can get what I want. Also, it doesn't hurt that it is in-state which makes it a tad cheaper in the end! As I was scrolling through my Facebook and I come across this promoted ad. The ad looks nice and seems okay to look at. Once I click on the link, I learned about this company called Boostliner where you copy links into your blogs post or social media to help promote products you like and or use.

Terrible Tuesday

Spur of the moment and I need to vent before I punch a hole in the wall. Today was not a good day to start with. It is spring time and it is still bloody snowing here; not fun. I am the private family chauffeur: take you here and that one there. Having two people in the house that can't drive really really sucks. With da working, I usually drive everyone no matter what day of the week. That does include my friends.

In English that means Happy St. Patrick's Day!! Today is the where the Irish and non-Irish alike celebrate Ireland's patron saint: Patrick. Paddy's Day started as a religious holiday to celebrating with festivals, parades, drinking, and more... I went to a local parade and sported my green; but green was never the colour of this holiday?!?

I just wanted to say have a safe and fun day. Drink up on Jameson and Guinness, eat the food, sing a few tunes with your mates and try not to do anything stupid please. This Irish lass is dressed up and having a grand old time celebrating :p

Luck of the Irish!

It is March and that means a holiday is right around the corner: St. Patrick's Day is coming y'all. The Guinness will be flowing and the green will be flying around and this Irish Princess will be all decked out in Green!

I take Paddy's Day seriously since I can pick out something Irish themed and my makeup changes from years to year! I will either paint my nails either green or black but both colours will appear in my makeup. As the parade gets closer please check my Instagram for what I am doing and then a post on Tuesday 3/17 for what I am actually doing on Paddy's Day!!

Happy March & Sunday Update!

Allo pals!
 Today is going to be a quick post in regards to the name change and I created an email just for the blog!
I figured that the name of the blog needed a change and something that I would like more. Shannon Speaks is truly me talking. My ideas, thoughts, creations, photos, and more in print for everyone to read. I want to share what I am doing and hopefully someone will understand and like it. Maybe comment and share photos!
As for the new email! So that way if some readers did want to get in touch with me, by putting the blog name in the subject would be confusing in my email. So I made an email account strictly for blog questions, requests, to share personal stories, anything you would like to share! Negativity is not welcomed!!
My social media is still the same. As for Google Hangouts and YouTube, I will have to figure out how that will go. Instagram, Twitter, and Goodreads are still my personal feeds for others to look at and see what I am doing in my life!!

Birthday, Tattoo and Harmon?!?

Ello poppet!!! I hope everyone is doing well on this Friday and where you are I hope it is warmer than New Jersey. The east coast keeps getting hammered with snow, sleet, ice, freezing rain and other cold weather on top of freezing temperatures.

FEBRUARY!!

Brrrr.... It is cold outside here in NJ and most of the eastern part of the US... And since it is the beginning  of the month I just wanted to chat and catch up with everyone!

#DepressionDiaries No.1

Allo pals! Hope all is well and in a past post, I had said that I will be posting updates regarding my depression and how I am doing. What I am going to do is post a weekly summary of how my depression is and my feelings, thoughts, and actions of dealing with it. I have been battling depression for several years now and I am slowly healing like others.

Happy New Year!!!!

As 2014 has come to a close and when this is posted I may or maybe not be awake to ring in the new year. I did have a lot of lows and some highs but I will take what happened last year to work on myself next year! I don't usually make resolutions in the new year but I am making goals to work towards and hopefully keep on track with them! 2015 might bring many changes for me and I can not wait to see where my relationships, employment, and life takes me. Will I get a better job or finally get all of my relationships in order. I hope that this year will bring most of your dreams become reality and the best to everyone!!!
