Traditions

Hey everyone. I hope you are having a good day where ever you are. I know here in New Jersey, it is a nice fall like a day in the summer time. I can't wait that fall starts in a few weeks. But I want to talk about something that isn't what I would usually post about. Today I want to talk about something that many families have in common; that is traditions.
Today I want to talk about something that many families have in common; that is traditions. By definition, a tradition is something passed down from generation to generation. Most traditions are passed by word of mouth or if there is something that is physical to be passed down like a piece of jewelry. This post came to me when I was watching a program about traditions and then I looked down at my hand. I wear a piece of Irish jewelry that can be passed down from generations. I think when I am older I will pass my ring down, but what is this ring I am talking about. But I will talk about that later in a sperate post.
Many family stories and tales are told by someone that is an elder in the family. Many of the stories that we know and love started within a family and passed down. Beowulf is a poem that many of us students know. We have read and studied it in class because it is an Old English poem and the oldest that may know. Over the years the words have been lost and many new themes were added.
Stories aren't just the only traditions that we are familiar with. I remember in high school I took anthropology and we studied traditions in many cultures. From the Pacific Islands to here in America, we all have traditions and I would like to hear what traditions you guys have. PLease comment below and I will see y'all soon!!!!
