I was thinking of new blog and I was thinking about my favourite things: music, makeup, television, and food. Food blogs are interesting and different from everyones views on food. But I will be blogging about other things too and its not going to be all about food. This is what I love to talk about.
I have been to few states but I have the love of diners and food places because I was born in the diner capital of the States; New Jersey. For all New Jersey has the most diner and the state name should be changed from the Garden State to the Diner State. Not to mention I live on a highway and I live up the street from a diner, a burger joint, and a luncheonette. Jersey is filled with local eats and hidden gems that you can find, if you know or follow the locals. And another tip, I don't like the Jersey Shore, that show just gives Jersey a bad rep and name. But you can find some good eateries down the shore and even on the boardwalks. Depending on what shore town you go to: Wildwood, Atlantic City, Seaside Heights (aka the Jersey Shore), or Cape May. MY shore destination since I can remember is Wildwood.
Being a member of the American Legion, I went to Wildwood every year for Legion convention. My little brother and I would spend hours on the boardwalk while our parents in Convention Center for the convention. I would always go to Payboys Arcade and waste half of the days money on games and food. But If we were hungry, we either went to The Olympic Flame II of Kelly's.
The Olympic Flame II was a find because we couldn't remember where the original Flame was. Flame II has some good Italian food. The pizza is great and the strombolis are huge. I had to take the rest home I was full. But across from Flame II was my mum's favourite place to get a bloomin onion. For all who don't know that a bloomin onion is, the onion is scored and opened like a flower, battered and deep fried. My mum love them with vinegar and salt. But my other fav place to eat in Wildwood near the walk is Kelly's. Kelly's is a cool restaurant where it feels like everyone that is in there, you are all family. Not to mention thats where many of us Legion members go to eat if you aren't on the boardwalk, at a county party, or at the Legion. Kelly's food is full of love and that is what makes it soo good to me. Not to mention i was a hit with the waitresses when I was about 7-8 years old. But on the way out of Wildwood before we leave. We always go to either the Top Cat or the Apollo. It has been a tradition and the food at both establishments are great.
Thats enough about my South Jersey finds, lets move up to North Jersey where I am from.
I come from the land of nothing!! I live near farms and things but north jersey is haunted and full of things to do! You can see historic Morristown and where George Washington slept and walked around. Go on Shades of Death Rd. or the Viaducts in Blairstown. In my small town of Roxbury, you can see where Washington went to church and where the first Gov. of NJ was buried and walk through the old cemetery.
Looking on the state site will help with the travels and find the touristy things, but I am a Jersey Girl, I know where to go and have some fun ;) outside of the county I live in because there is nothing to really do. I live an hour plus away from fun in either direction.
I will write posts in detail for other regions more like what you could do at the shore and up north.
